While some of these homes do indeed look quite stunning with combos of light and dark brick/render plus well thought out landscaping, the amount of heat around those homes must be terrible. Not far from us is a house that was extended and had a complete makeover with a charcoal coloured metal roof, dark mauve walls and black driveway. I stopped out front of it the other sunny day and put my hand on their driveway but had to remove it pretty quick. You could have fried an egg on it. Not for me. I'll admire these houses from a distance thanks. I must admit though that dark coloured houses especially the one I mention do look pretty good compared to the standard beige, off white homes that seem to proliferate. Maybe a solution would be to plant deciduous shrubs on the northern and western sides of these homes. Shade in summer - warmth in winter. Stewie The warning is on the sticker on the door too.
