Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 15, 2014 9:51 am Hi all, I am scratching my head as to where to place our shoes in our soon to be finished new home? Can any one give me any ideas? At the moment we are thinking of keeping them in laundry room which has good access either if are entering from main door / though the garage. We are thinking to have some rack/organizer along the wall opposite our linen&washing machine cupboards etc. But no idea where to find it or what it would look like? Any one has any ideas to share please? Ideally I would also love placing our coats , jumpers, keys etc also there as soon as we come in. Thanks in advance. Re: show me your shoe rack/cabinet ... please? 2Jan 15, 2014 10:36 am How many shoes do you have ..... I keep mine on the floor of the walk in wardrobe. Unlike Mrs SM who seems to need a cargo container to hold hers ... I have my RMW's x 2 for best, 4 or 5 pairs of sandals (Merrells) and a few runners. Also some great boots x 2 from Kathmandu - for overseas - great for walking. As I usually only wear sandals the others tend to get in the way. Re: show me your shoe rack/cabinet ... please? 3Jan 15, 2014 4:05 pm LOL SaintMike, We are a family of 5 with each of us having say about 6 pairs each. I am looking for a smart looking shoe rack / system, which will help me organize all of our shoes and socks , but still looking good, because as I said Laundry is just off the entry for us. Any ideas? But at least you'll get some great ideas. Both are in the garage beside the connecting door. Re: show me your shoe rack/cabinet ... please? 6Jan 17, 2014 10:11 am We use the Ikea shoe cupboards and have attached these to the wall inside the garage next to the access door. The idea being you take off your shoes before coming into the house. These hold 2 - 3 pairs each and come in sets of three. http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/00189087/ Re: show me your shoe rack/cabinet ... please? 7Jan 17, 2014 1:36 pm Was looking yesterday there is a good melamine shelf insert (complement series) by ikea that could be put into pretty much any tall cupboard - seems okay value or could knock something similar up much cheaper - holds about 22 pairs. Re: show me your shoe rack/cabinet ... please? 8Jan 18, 2014 11:20 pm Google images of mud room for inspiration. Sounds like exactly what you are looking for in relation to not only the shoes, but also bags, keys, coats etc. Here is an example Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Built with RedInk Custom 5000 Key Handover 15/12/2009 Re: show me your shoe rack/cabinet ... please? 9Jan 19, 2014 8:18 am I know Mrs SM got some metal shoe racks - which I put together. A top and a bottom section you can make longer or shorter by extending the bar. Then position it in the bottom of the wardrobe. I think she got them at Target or Harris Scarfe. I know she really likes HS for many items - especially in the kitchen - good prices - but wait for the sales.
