I saw that story a few months ago on Dulux paint and how it tends to fade incredibly quickly to a yellow colour…is that something to be aware of or was that just standard Current Affair hype? How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! I saw that story a few months ago on Dulux paint and how it tends to fade incredibly quickly to a yellow colour…is that something to be aware of or was that just standard Current Affair hype? I missed that story on Dulux paints on ACA…what a shame! I myself use Dulux….what you see is what you get when I use the A4 colour swatches; they are always the same colour when painted up. That’s very important to me when suggesting colours. BUT I have been down this track on who is better than whom, I always thought Solvor was a bad paint, but I have had that proven to me that I was wrong. It’s a good paint and a great finish. My main paints would be Dulux, Taubmans, Wattly, Solvor. And the new kid on the block so to speak is Resene, I haven’t used or seen this product on but I have faith it would be a good paint. I must add here….a paint is only as good as it can be, depending on who applies it! A good paint job comes back the brand of paint and the painter doing the job. My exterior paint work has faded very badly…..Dulux, but my painter didn’t use a Solar Guard paint, so I would assume that’s why that has happened. My interior paint looks as good as the day it was done, 5 years ago…..Dulux, no fading and no yellowing! I have never had a client come back to me and say they are disappointed with their Dulux paint. I would got to a reputable hardware store that keeps lots of paints and mixes paint often, ask them what they think is the best, they know! Don’t go to a Dulux, Wattly or Tabmans store we know what they will all say. The guys at the hardware aren’t bias, so they will tell you what they think. 13 years in business, and I am still very happy with Dulux and have no plans to change paint brands. We've always used Solver and had reasonable results. As Mish mentioned earlier Dulux also have a good name (except on ACA ). We'd also had very good results from Porters paints but they are more expensive.
Our builder used Dulux until recently. One of his houses is painted a dark colour and we noticed that the colour seemed to have faded a bit over the summer. He has changed to Solver recently so who knows . I wouldn't take the above example as Dulux = fading, as it may have faded for other reasons. And most of the stuff on ACA is a load of garbage . IMO . Re: Most Recommended Paint Brand? 5May 22, 2008 7:16 pm Dy….my front door is in the Dulux “Murray Red” I only just noticed the other day that it has faded slightly! Mind you it gets all the afternoon sun.
Again I stress here, had my painted used a Solar Guard, this may not have happened. Also…..I do feel darker colours are more likely to fade faster. BUT…having said that my light ascent colour on my exterior has faded a lot fast than the deep red! Guess who’s painting the next time!!!! The guys at Mitre 10 are really up with their paints, and they have told me that! So thumbs up for Haymes as well.
