Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 07, 2013 12:42 pm For some reason when the council did the numbers in my estate they did all the other side of the road in odd numbers and then on my side did 14, 16, 18, 20 and then to me, number 21. There is no 22 and I can see this getting confusing in the future so I want to change my number to 22. Has anyone done this before and was it easy/expensive Thanks Re: can I change my street number 2Aug 07, 2013 12:50 pm We had much the same issue, blocks at ends of the street were allocetd numbers and when the land our block is on was subdivided they found they hadn't left enough numbers in between so we had to be a B even though A and B are completely seperate houses. Council blamed State Government and State Government blamed the Council and we couldn't get anything doen about it. Re: can I change my street number 3Aug 07, 2013 2:23 pm You could point out to your council that having an odd number on the even side of the road contravenes the Australian Standard. Write to the council and ask nicely to change the number, pointing out the mistake in the allocation and that it should be an even number, also mention potential confusion to emergency services. In my experience some councils are reasonable to deal with, others not so when it comes to this sort of thing. With the amount of infill going on these days an A or a B no longer means a unit or duplex. It's really common in some areas of Perth to have lots of alphas in use due to lot sizes changing and poor numbering practices in the past. If you don't use alphas the only other option is to renumber the whole street and few councils are going to risk upsetting dozens of residents to accommodate one or two. What local government are you in Althom? The shire will always blame the state government but it comes under their Act so they are ultimately responsible for the numbers, that's how it is in WA anyway. Re: can I change my street number 4Aug 08, 2013 2:16 pm I quite like the number 21 ... But its true we all think one side is even - the other odd. Re: can I change my street number 7Aug 12, 2013 8:54 am gertle Thanks for your replies guys Ive just drafted a letter and will send it off today and let you's know how I go Mind you - the number could give you a unique difference to the neighbours ... Re: can I change my street number 8Aug 13, 2013 6:53 pm Althom City of Gosnells - a completely useless council Ah yes, Gosnells. Not the worst though, there are another two metro councils that I find are worse than Gosnells to deal with. Re: can I change my street number 9Dec 13, 2013 4:09 pm Did you end up hearing back from them? Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. Re: can I change my street number 10Dec 16, 2013 10:45 am I feel for our eventual neighbours at the end of the street (the block is unsold at the moment). Our street doesn't officially have a 1 or 2, it starts at 3 and 4. As a result, number 4 of our street is next door to number 4 on the corner of the next street. However, 4 and 6 of this street have their crossovers in our street, see the below screen grab from the land victoria map http://services.land.vic.gov.au/maps/interactive.jsp Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I HOPE that they numbered the 2 lots 4 and 6 of the next street when the lots were titled as our street had yet to be built, so technically they needed a street number in the existing street just in case our stage never happened. I assume the council intend both lots to be renumbered 1 and 2 of our street, but if they don't end up doing it you will have number 4 next to number 4. Crazy! Hi all. I'm thinking of installing an electric gate in front of this street front villa (link below). The gate would be between the bush on the left and the letter box on… 0 2808 Thanks! I'm spoke to the builder I'm not sure if this is all true but basically went along the lines of they considered all options and if I was to compact and fill it… 2 7320 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35502 |
