Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 11, 2013 10:16 pm Just wondering if anyone has asked the sales rep in the estate office if display homes can be visited/viewed after the opening hours. Usually they close up at 5pm. I am just very curious how the home would look like with the display home's electricals and lighting. Have so far only been to displays in the daylight, never at night. I am very sure it would feel totally different. Wondering if anyone successfully asked the rep to give access say after 6pm when it's dark and have all lights on for a walk around. Re: Anyone visited the display homes after opening hours? 2Dec 12, 2013 7:35 am Have you asked ? Not a bad idea - but I have a feeling some do open at night - like the shops. Re: Anyone visited the display homes after opening hours? 3Dec 12, 2013 8:46 am It would depend on the builder and how serious you were about buying a house with them. But I agree with Saint Mike - ask them... the worst they can say is no. Researching a build in South Australia from Sydney. Re: Anyone visited the display homes after opening hours? 4Dec 12, 2013 9:10 am Most of the reps we came across were happy to schedule after hours appointments at the display homes if we wanted... But having said that, I believe it was to tru and do what they could to secure a sale, not just for a "looky look", but no harm in asking, they may be able to let you come through when they have another viewing lined up... or if they are meeting a client at the display home after hours already. But just remember the display homes always have really heavily upgraded electricals so that's not normally what you get anyway. I know the Plantation homes won't let you turn lights off which I was really annoyed at. It's really hard to get a feel of natural light in the the display homes. It's really hard to get a feel of natural light in the the display homes which plantation homes site you visited which denied your request? I dont know what my luck is if I am to ask the sales rep @ Rochedale QLD to open up a display home @ Ormeau (another display village 20 min drive away). I am likely to sign up with the Rochedale sales as he seems nice with previous appointments, but fear it is too much trouble for him to get into.... I guess i will still throw out my request when I am ready to sign. Re: Anyone visited the display homes after opening hours? 7Dec 12, 2013 1:47 pm We didn't actually ask anyone but the light switches don't work! Hahaha. We tried turning them off. And you actually weren't able to close bedroom doors either to see how dark or light hallways etc were when closed. They doors were fixed open to the walls. If you specifically asked a sales rep they might be able to turn the lights off for you... We were meeting with a salesman at Rochedale who was very helpful. (Name rhymes with Boy hahaha). Anyway we stayed quite late back with him one night doing plan alterations and he was able to show us something in a locked up house that was relevant to what we were discussing. This was winter though at 6pmish -you'll have to wait a couple more hours for dark at the moment! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Anyone visited the display homes after opening hours? 8Dec 12, 2013 2:05 pm Most of the display home lights are on sensors if you go during the week (when there are fewer people about) and stay still for long enough they go out for you to get an idea of the natural light - of course you can only really get a good indication if your block has the same aspect. In terms of visiting the display home after hours just call the sales rep and ask them. My experience is that they will come back but prefer to wait for you to arrive if its just after standard hours as locking up the house is a bit of a procedure - apparently. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Anyone visited the display homes after opening hours? 9Dec 12, 2013 5:15 pm Re upgrades - we were told we'd need about 30 lights in the house - they had 30 in the kitchen ... Re: Anyone visited the display homes after opening hours? 10Dec 13, 2013 9:11 am We did an evening visit to the display with Porter Davis, the sales person was more than happy to arrange it. There was a panel of light switches hidden away to control the place if I remember correctly. It was very helpful to see the place without other people wandering about but we didn't benefit from seeing the lighting as PD over-lights their displays like crazy (hundreds of down lights). HD Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24726 wondering anyone built with omaxe homes and care to share their experiences. thanks 0 13782 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently.
