Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 12, 2008 2:47 pm We bought into an area which is governed by a Body Corporate. Over the weekend we were talking to a neighbour who was complaining about how high the BC fees are each quarter. It then struck us that we have never received an invoice from the BC. Should we ring them and mention it?? I'm worried we will have to 'back pay'. Re: What would you do??? 3May 12, 2008 8:29 pm It's possible that the solicitor who handled your purchase has not advised the Body Corporate of the sale details. I'd contact the Body Corporate Manager and find out if they have your details. If not, smack your solicitor/conveyancer and demand that they send the details.
Your fees are payable from the date of settlement. If the settlement happened during the period, the old owner pays up to settlement, and you are entitled to pay from settlement. Once your details are updated, your Body Corporate should send you a welcome pack which should include a copy of the last Minutes of the AGM. This will include the budget and the breakdown for each lot. The budget, which determines your fees, is voted on each year by the owners. If it is backdated for a while, you can advise them of the situation and they should let you enter into a repayment plan. If you have any issues, I am a Body Corporate manager so please feel free to PM me. Dana -------------------------- Building with DFH - carpet installed!
