I don't have any baby clothes any more .........nor will I ever again, just in case you were going to ask!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 43Jul 02, 2008 6:33 pm Hmmm well i'm confused about washes and cylce times, cause in looking at the brochure for our new AEG L86800 f/l washer (which we pick up on the 14th - yipeeee!!!!) - doesn't have a normal wash????
Ours has (??): cottons - 95 deg (which looking up on Google is 99mins???) Linen/ Easy Care 60-30 deg Energy Saving 40-20 deg Delicate 40 deg - cold Wool 40 deg - cold Silk 30 deg 40/60 deg mix Easy Iron 60-30 deg Refresh 30 deg Spin / Drain/ Rinse ?????? So i hope the manual has recommendations cause i can't figure what wash is the standard wash....and the brochure doesn't tell me wash cycle times??? Will let you know how it goes, cause i'll need to do washing soon after moving in... They will always be your 'babies' They do grow so quickly though, I just put away my DD's 0000 stuff and felt a bit sad (as we are not planning any more) (ask me again in 5 years though ) Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 45Jul 02, 2008 6:46 pm Oh and Phoenix - mine didn't come with any recommendations, I just had a little play for the first few cycles and worked out what I liked. There are so many cycles, and I only use 2 or 3! Ours has a lot of different washes like yours, it also has a dark wash - which is set at the same time and temp as the auto. Whats the difference?? I'll ask you again in 5 yrs, although 1 nice thing about mine is that there's only 5 and a half yrs btw the oldest and youngest, so they're all sort of at the same stage at the same time! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 48Jul 03, 2008 12:14 am Phoenix, I think you'll find that your cotton wash will be your"standard" wash. That's what mine is. I have a quick 30min cycle which I use for DH running gear every night.......it's back on him the next day and his basketball uniform which goes in by itself.
I do all my kids clothing (bar jeans) on a handwash cycle which takes an hour......my kids clothes still look new after four months of washing. Or maybe that's because they sit in the ironing for two months...... Happy at Home Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 50Jul 03, 2008 9:48 am Paula House-To-Be Or maybe that's because they sit in the ironing for two months...... True Paula......my kids have so many clothes I don't have to iron very much! Very naughty of me actually A Mum at playgroup has five boys and never irons at all! She doesn't even own an iron Happy at Home Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 52Jul 03, 2008 10:04 am Paula House-To-Be A Mum at playgroup has five boys and never irons at all! She doesn't even own an iron She must look like s**t Yep she does and so does her youngest. No need for that really, I actually really enjoy ironing as long as I have a good movie to watch whileI'm ironing Happy at Home Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 54Jul 03, 2008 10:51 am There was a brief discussion about ironing on a similar thread - some posters on here said they never iron anything.
I iron some things, only those that really need it, but I also knew a lady who did not own an iron. (she looked OK) I guess if you hang clothes on line and fold / hang away correctly and choose clothes which don't really need ironing in the first place, you can get away with it. But you are digressing from your washing machine issues........ Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 56Jul 03, 2008 11:24 am Hi guys,
Ok, I'll tell you a secret, I dont iron either, only shirts that really need to be ironed. Mr B does his own ironing. I bring in the washing straight away, fold neatly then put in closets. Very neat and organised. It is much more common than people think. My Mil and SiL who are cleaning fanatics also dont iron. When the clothes come of the line they are shakened and folded in a way that takes out many of the wrinkles. I find ironing probably the most awful chore and tends to just get worst if you dont keep up with it every day. My SIL is a big one for ironing. Surprisingly, her house is always in disaray because of the build up of clothing. Every body has different way of house keeping I suppose...I have been known to vacuum the floors up to 4 times a day hehe. Anyway...I've just bought a Miele dishwasher for $1100 today so I am excited Mrs B Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 57Jul 03, 2008 1:44 pm Paula I know someone who has 5 kids and doesn't iron----I wonder if its the same person?? She lives in Burwood. I really enjoy ironing, I can sort of tune out and watch my movie. I don't iron everything......my stupid MIL irons teatowels (apologies to those out there who irons their teatowels ) If I need something in the ironing cupboard (not basket ) and I don't have time to iron it the I put it in the dryer for a few mins and then straight onto the kids. DH irons all of his work shirts! He wears casual to the office but a suit when out training or visiting schools so he does his own the night before. I don't think my girls would be very happy with me if I gave them wrinkled clothes, in fact I can just picture miss 5yo's face Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 58Jul 03, 2008 7:31 pm Love those guys Mrs B I have been known to vacuum the floors up to 4 times a day hehe. Anyway...I've just bought a Miele dishwasher for $1100 today so I am excited If I do your ironing will you do my vacuuming?? Congratulations of your dishwasher House-To-Be (apologies to those out there who irons their teatowels ) Apology accepted Paula Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 59Jul 04, 2008 9:22 pm petal there's only 5 and a half yrs btw the oldest and youngest, so they're all sort of at the same stage at the same time! gosh petal you must have been busy about six years ago - 4 under 6??! My washing machine has a 95 degree option too - sometimes I wonder what sort of garment would survive being washed in 95 degrees ? I have never used it. Mrs B that sounds like a good price for Miele? Can I ask where you got it? Re: Front Loading Washing Machines 60Jul 04, 2008 10:50 pm donuts Mrs B that sounds like a good price for Miele? Can I ask where you got it? Hi donuts, We got it from Clive Peters, floor stock, perfect condition. All the same warranties and when you save over $350 for a Miele thats fantastic as they dont discount their stock. Anyway, I'm happy, one more thing I dont have to worry about. mrs B Hey all Currently renovating our laundry, bought a new washing machine but have found that the drainage hose is alot shorter than the old machine (which I used to get the… 0 17520 Get some long brass machine screws and bolt right through the gate and put brass acorn nuts and washers on the other side.
