Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 24, 2013 2:54 am Can someone please tell me how long it takes for the final tender & plans to come from head office? We gave our final changes plan to Casuarina 275 (same as at Chisolm) on 30/10, went through pre-tender 7/11. I got an email yesterday saying our tender will be in the office 6/12... I was hoping to have plans into council before christmas, but it doesnt look like that's going to happen I was told our changes were not the norm, but reading other peoples threads I dont think they were unusual... We are going with the Indulgence inclusions as I love the option 2 kitchen & vanities... The biggest change we made was to the ensuite which we swapped to the noosa ensuite at chisolm. Put storage in garage, behind WIR so that wall remained aligned. Removed Bedroom 2, using the extra space to increase Bedrooms 3, 4 & master by about a metre each. With a little left over to add some to laundry (love a big laundry as with 2 young boys at home & 2 big ones that bring their washing home I need it) This made the activity area small enough to be a study nook & the study has become our 4th Bedroom. Removed bath from bathroom. Added waste to laundry (thank you to whomever put that in their blog). I took out the meals bulk head (I like straight walls lol) yay a credit I didnt like their toilets or shower heads, so we are supplying them. Another credit Upgraded roof tiles to the prestige & added sarking & extra whirly bird. (FYI Bristile guy told me that the prestige can sometimes not sit flat with steel frame as its not as solidly joined as wooden) We are adding the flooring (tiles & carpet with upgraded underlay) We are getting Coral to do porch & outdoor entertainment are sub slab & decks. And finally the driveway 60m2... I am quite bummed about having to wait 4weeks to go to next step. Is this anyone elses experience? Re: Coral Homes taking so long with Tender... 2Nov 24, 2013 8:24 am I don't think the times are unreasonable, particularly given the pick-up in the building industry for new homes. More builds means more work and juggling on the paperwork and admin side. As a general measure of activity, many tradesman and suppliers I talk to say they have seen their level of work pick up by 2 to 3 times in the last 12 months. Given the deep holes on our block we figure the soil tests are getting done but not heard anything back just yet. Was only last week so I can't rush anyone so far but we hope can at least get a few more things set before christmas. For example a dreaded retaining wall. So scared the cost of a wall so sooner we can find out about it the better. J&J Building our Home on The Coast. Re: Coral Homes taking so long with Tender... 5Nov 26, 2013 9:03 am Coral homes are NOT in a hurry to do anything. It took 4 weeks to get our first tender and then 5 weeks to get our fixed price contact / 2nd tender and it was still wrong. So now we have to have a 'variation' done. When my husband rang our SC on the 4 week mark we were told they hadn't even started it! They were waiting on the soil class as we challenged them on it. I can't see why they couldn't have just costed everything else and just added the soil class costing's when they received them. Any way when I'm told x amount of weeks I automatically add another 2 weeks cause they've taken 2 weeks longer than quoted. I wanted to have all my plans etc.. in to council before Christmas too but same as you it's not looking like it will. I know we are not the only ones who are dissatisfied with the amount of time Coral homes are taking to do anything. It is frustrating, I know how you feel, we are waiting for Coral to get back to us as well. However, there probably is no merit in getting it into council before Christmas. Our local council just told someone building in our estate that there is an extra 5 week wait on DA approvals over christmas. If your build isn't complicated, ask them if they will use a private certifier to to approve plans (usually a 10 day turn around......) Do you mind me asking what the quote was fir the sarking/whirlybird roof upgrades?? Was considering getting them with the extreme heat we've been suffering through lately Re: Coral Homes taking so long with Tender... 8Jan 17, 2014 9:40 pm It really depends on your facade/portico style & size of house. The whirly bird was $330 & 1 comes with the sarking. So the price we got in our Casuarina tender will be different for Noosa Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Great idea with this weather though Good luck Re: Coral Homes taking so long with Tender... 9Jan 21, 2014 11:12 pm We aren't with Coral, but we went to tender 30/4/2013. We didn't get our plans into council until late November. And we weren't stuffing them around. Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted. I called VBA today and they said it was a Consumer Affairs issue, the old handball. Seems like the government organisations don't want to do their job at the moment. 2 7540 |
