Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 11, 2008 5:01 pm Hi all!
I haven't posted on here before but hubby and I are in the process of having a house built on the Laurimar estate in Doreen. I have really enjoyed reading all your posts and seeing the pics of your builds We are about halfway through the process at the moment, we are using a smallish company called Angelco and cannot recommend them highly enough, everything has run very smoothly so far and nothing is too much trouble for them,,and believe me, I have tested their patience, especially over the kitchen, I have changed my mind,,,erm,, a few times !!!!!! My question for you is that our house isn't a contemporary one like most of the houses I see on here but a bit more traditional (if anyone is interested I will post some pics) and I am trying to source some wooden verandah brackets without much luck,, our builders do supply them but they only have one design which I'm not over keen on found a very small range in Bunnings today and have been googling like mad but have only found 1 company so far. I had a glimmer of hope that someone on here might able to help! Lorraine. Sorry if this post is in the wrong place, I wasn't sure what category it fitted into! Re: Wooden verandah brackets? 2May 11, 2008 5:32 pm Hi Lorraine44…..welcome to the forum!
Yes the old wooden verandah brackets seem to be a little scarce these days. I was searching for some 2 weeks ago to put under my outdoor timber servery shelf and I wasn’t impressed with what I could find either. I even went to a timber yard and asked them, they had a couple but not was I was looking for. Good luck I hope someone can help you in here. sorry you haven't had much luck either. On our estate there are lots of house with some gorgeous brackets,, am wondering what reaction I would get if I knocked on their doors and asked them where they got them from? Re: Wooden verandah brackets? 4May 11, 2008 6:09 pm Go knock….I would!
You’re just after a supplier, no harm asking about that. I gather you are in Melbourne? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Wooden verandah brackets? 5May 11, 2008 6:11 pm Yes you are in Melbourne……did you just add that?

Yep, Melbourne, have just updated my profile so it shows now Re: Wooden verandah brackets? 7May 11, 2008 6:33 pm With so many restorations going on down there I would think the brackets would be easy to get hold of.
Strange how things suddenly become scarce, I remember about 10 years ago you could get them from anywhere, and in lots of different styles! Hello, Lorraine, I am building a conventional style house too, I'm not sure what you mean by wooden verandah brackets (see, we need a pic ) but I am having a bullnose verandah across the front of my house, a country cottage sort of look, is that the sort of thing you mean by 'traditional style'? Re: Wooden verandah brackets? 14May 11, 2008 9:37 pm Something like this suit?

Look forward to seeing pics tomorrow. PS: Someone did once knock on my door and ask where I had got something (an AFL Crows mascot with legs which ran in the wind ) and I have occasionally been asked for plant cuttings and am flattered and take it as a compliment, I think most people would feel the same about some part of their house - flattery gets you everywhere PS: I don't suppose you want to know the supplier of said mascot?? Would look good on your Melbourne home Re: Wooden verandah brackets? 17May 11, 2008 9:50 pm Helyn OK, I know what you mean now (still can't answer the question though ) I have seen similar brackets in aluminium, sometimes with a long border with it which I think is called aluminium lace.
