Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 13, 2013 4:08 pm I have a Rheem hot water system (315litres/6 years old) here in Sydney,Australia. I just moved into a new (old) house and when first handed the key to the house I turned off the power to the hot water system because I have no plan to move in straight away... 6 months later we moved in...I turned on the power to the HWS (and waited overnight) and notice there is no hot water going to the house... These are my observations: - HWS is likely 'on' as the pressure release valve has very hot water when pressed. - All hot water outlets in the house has no hot water...only cold water when turn on the hot water handles . Here's what strange...I just tested everything again a few minutes ago and the hot water pipe next to the HWS is now HOT when turning on any of the hot water outlets inside the house....but after about 10 seconds of cold water I get maybe 15 seconds of very warm water and it go cold again no matter how long i turn on the hot tap. This is definitely not from the sun heating the pipe as that heat is much cooler and only last about 3-5 seconds. Another observation i found is while the hot water pipe from the HWS is hot if I pull the pressure relief valve then this (hot water outlet) pipe will go cold again. Laundry tap where i tested for hot water is about 10m pipe length from hws. - I search online and some people think it's a tempering valves (mix hot/cold water to safe level) as these valves usually last around 5 years and when fail automatically close the hot water...unfortunately I don't see any tempering valves around the HWS ...the only valves around the HWS is 1.Non return Isolating valve and 2. 500kPa Pressure limiting valve. Any help is greatly appreciated as I think the HWS should last for a few more years if I maintain it (I'm planning to change the sacrificial anode myself next week) Thanks again for any help. Re: No hot water from Hot Water System 2Nov 13, 2013 10:13 pm cornellengineers I second the thought on the tempering valve. I had a similar issue with our hot water system a couple of years ago. We got hot from the pressure relief valve but not inside. I didn't see a tempering valve only - but the plumber changed it out and the system was fine. It's worth getting a plumber out. Thanks for the reply. So you didn't see a tempering valve...but the plumber found it and change it? was it installed inside the hws? the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 13903 I want to build a decking to the drawn shape outlined in black.
