Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 12, 2013 9:15 am Hello, I am currently getting some work done to our side yard. 1. Aggregated concreting; and 2. Stracto verandah ontop of the agreegated concrete. I received a few quotes and have narrowed it down to two, one from an authorised Stracto installer and one from Install a Verandah. Quotes are similar in price, only the installation technique regarding the gutter and how the water is ran off from the gutter differs. I am at a loss as per who is correct and welcome anyones comment: Stracto authorised installer states that as I am getting concreting done, he will need to install the verandah first, because the guttering on the verandah needs to connect to the downpipe that is already existing along the side of my house. This involves running a small downpipe down the verandah post into the ground, then running another pipe and connecting it to the existing downpipe alongside of my house. After the verandah and guttering is done, the concreting can be poured ontop of the pipes under the ground. Install a Verandah states as I am getting concreting done, they will simply reverse flush the gutter along the top of the verandah to the existing downpipe on the side of my house. They say the trick is to allow enough of a decline on the top gutter of the verandah to reverse flush back towards the house to the existing downpipe and council have provided permits on this technique previously. Install a Verandah say if you go with Stracto, you will not be able to access the pipe under the ground once the concreting is poured (this is in the event for whatever reason you need to access the pipe). Stracto says reverseflushing back towards your house is a no no and does not believe council would approve a permit on such a technique? Help! I have no idea and rely on their professionalism. Thanks, Re: Reverse flush gutter to downpipe 2Nov 12, 2013 10:10 am Stratco solution is the better solution. and is cleaner. There is also the issue of having to much water collection for one downpipe. It would always be best to tap into the ground plumbing. There is no need to have access to the pipe. The stratco system is a smaller downpipe than standard. So even if something gets through the stratco Downpipe then it will have no issues going through the 90mm standard storm water plumbing. After reading a few comments and having discussed it with others, I am now going with Stratco. Cheers The unit normally clips into a metal plate screwed to the wall, either plate is not flush, or unit not hooked in and could be hanging from the pipes partly, either might… 2 15773 Okay, then the choice is really about the build quality of the door itself which means the brand name. Sorry I can't recommend one or the other so best to rely on comments… 5 3238 |
