Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 03, 2013 11:05 pm Hi everyone. I have purchased a block of land in Plumpton, Aspire Estate. The land is due to title in December this year. I am currently looking at builders and I am undecided. Have looked at Carlisle, Ashford homes, etc, and now Long Island homes. I am very happy with L.I.H inclusions. I am finding it hard to choose a builder due to uncertainty on the builders reputation, quality, service, build time. I am wondering if anyone is currently in the middle of building with L.I.H. and how has the process been so far? Thank you! Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 2Oct 05, 2013 7:13 pm I had my home completed 3 months ago with LIH, I also had Ashford home give quote on my build. It was a hard choice.. I found LIH good but sometimes lacked communication. They also went over the contact time by 2 weeks and had to re-reimburse me $500.00. I have no real complaint about quality just the normal repaint, couple of tile replacements (must admit we have a lot of tiling 75smtrs) and some plaster fixes. But to their credit they built me a totally custom home from the ground up, at a reasonable price and good quality. Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 3Oct 05, 2013 8:14 pm Hi completed my build with Long Island Homes just over a year and a half now. I had no issues with time frame, communication, qualilty, or customer care and service. I found them to be reliable and reasonable to deal with nothing was ever a problem and things got resolved without hesitation. Most importantly they always made us feel like we mattered and were not just a number. Very professional in their approach. You are bound to get some hiccups along the way. Its part of the trade. The supervisor assigned to our build at the time was always availabe to answer any concerns. Any query was either fixed on the spot or the next day. Good luck with your choice. At the end of the day you are the one that needs to be happy. They do custom build they dont charge any extra for it. I was very happy with the whole building experience. As above a few minor paint touch ups nothing major when we did the independant inspection. Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 5Oct 05, 2013 10:51 pm Hi Isg . Yes i would highly reccomend them. Very reputable in the building industy. The directir is held with high regards very knowledgable. He has launched a utube tv site that is designed to assist consumers make informed decisions regarding building. Very trust worthy and respectful. We are in melton. I will pm u the supervisors name. I want to help u gain some perspective. Time to build can be different depending on the demand and location. Tradies used by builders do not work soley for them . They do outside jobs as well so they may have to wait until one is available. It is not in their control. I hope this helps. Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 6Oct 06, 2013 3:19 pm lsg123 Hi Lourance and Angeltherapy. Just wondering where both of you built? What was the SS name? PM me if you don't want to post his name. So, end of the day, you would recommend them? Thanks I built in Werribee. you can follow my build from the link under my sig. Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 7Oct 10, 2013 11:25 am Hi Lourance, Angeltherapy, all you guys have good experiences with LIH, but not mine. I never and ever introduce or recommend LIH with anyone. they can't control their jobs, they are super slow. I lost many things when I go with them. They can offer you good price, but in sitecost they will charge with fixed price at least $13 000 (checked with others cus). If you deal with them, Pls notice with sitecost. Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 8Oct 10, 2013 4:21 pm Hi oz. Thank you for sharing ur experience. I'm sorry to hear it was not a good one. Where did you build? And what home? There are many factors asociated with costs involved. Have u finished building your home? Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 9Oct 11, 2013 1:13 pm lsg123 Hi everyone. I have brought in Plumpton too (Springlands Estate) and has signed a contract to build with Ashford Homes. Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 10Oct 17, 2013 3:33 pm I also built with Ashford Homes. we finished 6 months ago and i am happy to say we are very happy. I promised the sales manager i would write on here once our maintenance was done and if i was still happy and i am a man of my word. They did maintenance last week and only brough them back for a couple of paint touch ups and some cracking in my alfressco cornice.. So yes i am happy and can tell people they are worth giving a shot too. Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 11Oct 23, 2013 6:42 pm HI lsg123, Do you choose your builder ? Please stay away Long Island Homes. As you choose them, you will know my feeling at the moment . Angry with myselft, feel idiot, stupid as choosing LongIsand Homes!!! Re: Who is building with Long Island Homes? 12Nov 11, 2013 4:05 pm I moved into my new home built by Long Island Homes about 7 months ago. Very good builders with reasonable price. Communication can be a problem... but hey every other builder also has the same problem. However LIH's response is very good as soon as you deal with the right people. After handover, did not have any major defects.. just minor ones. Extremely good builders.... The Director is extremely honest and full of integrity. You get what you are told.
