It's a place to take off shoes and coats, kind of like a cloak room. I think in really muddy places, perhaps on farms etc, it could even contain a sink or a shower to wash feet, hands, animals etc. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Mud Room - What The? 3May 07, 2008 5:09 am These are also used in ski resorts for taking off boots etc.

Perhaps with a shower included if you had a very messy, dirty or smelly type job. Re: Mud Room - What The? 6May 07, 2008 9:15 am If these rooms are at the front & back doors, and are able to be closed off, they also serve as an excellent "air lock". This can be hugely useful for improving the heating & cooling efficiency of your house. Re: Mud Room - What The? 7May 07, 2008 9:25 am OK got it thanks guys....in the current place I put a laundry unit in the garage so that I wouldn't mess up the nice internal sinks...and the new place has the same and a bit more...know I understand... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard mud room 9May 08, 2008 1:22 am though I've not been here long already I wonder. was it Ash with ideas of a paddling pool and lots of mud with perhaps a side dish of jello?
