Hi!
So, I'm curious about working conditions with the big name builders, ideally those in melbourne.
I'm looking at entering the workforce again after 8 years at home raising boys.
With all the time I've spent at displays, getting quotes and liaising with sales consultants, I feel it's a job I could do well. Most prefer experience in similar roles, but some are just seeking the 'right' people.
One thing I've noticed while searching for our dream home is that there seems to be a very high turn over in staff. One week you go to one display and chat to a SC, then the next week you see them at a different builders display. In my 12 mths of looking, I know of only 2 SC's that are still in the same role. Why do you think this is? Could be SC's seeking more money, poor support from head office, sales continually falling through at tender?
They, well the good ones, seem to work around the clock, answering emails in particular at all hours of the night and on their days off (thugs and fri). I'm trying to work out how well they get paid for this.
So, who has some inside goss? What is the pay like? My research finds somewhere
between 100-300k OTE. How much is base? How does commission structure work? What other perks could be involved? Discount if you build with them? Discount at their suppliers?
Can anyone shed any light?
