Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 19, 2013 9:17 pm So went to decide on a brick for double storey brick and clad home and come out the other side with PGH cement. http://www.pghbricks.com.au/Bricks/Show_191.aspx The house will be brick veneer downstairs and clad upstairs. So if downstairs will be PGH Cement what colour scheme would you recommend for the clad and roof (colourbond), fascia, gutter and panel lift garage door? We have looked at Dune and Surfmist for the roof (prefer light colours) and then wonder what colours to do the clad, fascia, gutter and garage door? Not sure if a timber look garage door would be too much? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks Martin Re: Exterior colour advice 3Sep 20, 2013 2:00 pm My bricks are a similar colour. I decided to go with "tranquil retreat" for the cladding: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (see this post for colours i am going with) Build thread: here Land Nov 12, Contract 6/07/13, Consent 15/08/13, Start 20/09/13, Slab 25/09/13, Frame 4/10/13, Brick 21/10/13, Roof 2/11/13, Lock-up 17/12/13, Handover 3/3/14 Re: Exterior colour advice 4Nov 08, 2013 8:06 pm Sorry for the late reply but had a bit of a battle with the DAbut now is approved so hopefully its full steam ahead. We are liking Dune for the roof but interested to hear other peoples suggestion for colour advice so fire away, no bad suggestions here. Below are the elevations for the house if it helps. I'd be concerned that colours overall will be too light and lacking contrast. Cement is not the strongest colour. Timber garage will go well with that brick though. Are you going to render the portico columns? Re: Exterior colour advice 6Nov 09, 2013 4:17 pm Sorry should have given better detains on the design. As we are in flood zone the house will be approx 700mm above natural ground level. The ground floor was originally drawn (as in the above elevations) with 2.7 ceilings but these are being brought back down to 2.4 so this should give the house better proportions. Thinking the columns on the portico will be covered in stack stone after house is build and we figure out what we like more. Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing. If you just do a 400x200 footing it will fail in time.
