Just spotted what looked like a small black hole at bottom of wall. Thought maybe it was a small spider curled up or something. Getting closer, there's lots and lots of small bugs. Kind of like ants but not really. The black spot is a hundred of them bunched together. I'm hoping they are just sitting there and that there is not not a hole through the wall behind them! There's lots of them running around on the floor around the corner as well.
I have not touched them due to all the people with termite damage saying not to disturb them. This is not termites by the look of it, but it's our first house (and we just moved in), so I really have no idea what it is and whether it could damage our property.
So before I spray them and assume that is the end of it, can someone please confirm what this is and what the appropriate steps to kill them would be (should they be harmful to the house)? I assume it is nothing, but better safe then sorry!
They are extremely small, I were only really able to decide on exactly how they looked after takings lots of close up photos.
EDIT: kind of looks like mini cockroaches on the photos, but I never knew them to be this small.. I should probably have put something next to them for reference of their size, but you can maybe judge by the thing along the bottom of the wall (whatever it's called, can't remember now).

Yeah, that's what I thought too (see edit in post above), but are they ever this small? It was only when I looked at the photos that I could see a resemblance to cockroaches, they were too small to make out such details with the naked eye. The whole lump of bugs were only a few mm altogether. Haven't seen any other nests (so far) though.
I ended up spraying them earlier (very gently, more like a dribbling so they wouldn't go flying all over the place), which didn't seem to do much except the liquid making it difficult for them to move around. Ended up just wiping them up with wet paper towel.
Would be very interested to hear some more opinions though. It does look like there is some tiny holes in corner behind the bunch though, so might have to try and put some seal over it.
