Hi all,
I found this on one of our doors in our new house. Is this normal? What purpose does it serve?

Am really intrigued by that little ball bearing.

That seal makes you have to push it a bit to get it closed. So I don't think it was needed as a spacer. Bazzle is closer to the point. The night we took handover of our house, someone 'broke' in via this door. Nobody pointed that little ball out to me, but when working in the garden last weekend, the wind kept popping the door open (we added a deadbolt the day after the break in so it holds it shut at night). Since removing that ball, the door stays shut properly without the deadbolt. If it was meant as a spacer, it wasn't necessary and it allowed someone to make off with our taps and showers... -G Re: Door Latch - Normal? 5Dec 13, 2013 3:58 pm Wow, that's....really worrying. Today is under construction. Thank you for understanding. The OP has gone The latch and striker are definitely not aligned but there was no point trying to help the OP understand that. Hence the reason they are no longer with us. 12 5692 Yes, get a builder, make sure he is experienced and a registered building practitioner 5 8978 |
