Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 02, 2013 6:39 pm Hi there, Handover is coming this Friday for my place and the painters are finishing up tomorrow however I have a real annoyance with the quality of the paint work. The supervisor went through on Friday and marked off what he could see, then left tape there for us to do Saturday which we did. We went through at day and night and tapped the hell out of the place. Today the supervisor called and stated it was good what we had done but per BSA rulings he stands 1.5 metres from the wall and what ever he can see is fine with them. Sooooo ok my questions are as follows; * In the garage they have 'puttied' some nail markings, but I can see 4 more nails bits through the roof these haven't been marked off. Surely this has to be fixed and if you can't see them in the sunlight until you turn the light on then it still has to be fixed? * The doors have not been painted on top, is this a requirement? I read its needed to be done for warranty. * The piece of wood above the doors, the paint is cracked, yet the sticker I had there he's removed as he says its not visually able to see from the ground. Yet I can see when I walk from the hallway. * In the walldrobe, they haven't painted the little side bits of the wall, he said they will be hidden when the shelving goes in...let it slide? * At night, the walls down right suck in some places I can see where they've patched up. * Is this worthy of calling the BSA? Just hate how he's pulled the BSA card on me as I honestly have no idea of the regulations. Handover is supposed to be Friday as said above but I just not happy with this paint job. Thanks Re: House Paint Quality & BSA Rules 2Sep 02, 2013 8:41 pm I don't think any wooden surface should be bare even if you can't see it. Especially with wooden doors all surfaces should be painted to prevent moisture getting in and causing swelling. Generally paint is assumed OK if you can't see it from a 'Normal' viewing position. Re: House Paint Quality & BSA Rules 3Sep 03, 2013 8:14 am Agreed with Bashworth on the tops of doors. Sketchy on regulations but I would have thought the tops of doors should be painted to prevent moisture damage as well. If you really are worried perhaps there is someone at the BSA you can discuss matters with before proceeding too far with it and not having a leg to stand on. Perhaps another builder or architect could help you as they should be familiar with practical completion standards and the BSA. "is it exempt or do I need to get permission from council" Call your Council and ask them 1 1509 1 1906 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7079 |
