Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 15, 2013 3:14 pm They've just marked out on our slab where the walls will be and I had a small panic attack at how small they look at this stage, its not a big house overall,210sqm including garage, everyone keeps saying wait until the walls go up and that they only 'look' small.our theatre room is 3.730 x 4.460 which on paper I thought wasn't to bad,but now I'm wondering how I'll fit my lounge in! Has anyone else felt this way before but then the rooms turned out OK? Re: worried about room size 2Aug 15, 2013 3:32 pm When you stand on the new slab it normally looks huge. When you mark out the rooms(and the frame goes up) all the rooms look small until the wall lining is finished. We have had the same conversation on every house we have built. Re: worried about room size 3Aug 15, 2013 3:34 pm Don't fret! Everything looks tiny when its marked out on the slab, even the just the framing looks tiny. You dont really start to get an idea till the gyprock is up, even then it's still not right because of the darkish grey colour of it, makes the rooms seem a bit dreary. When the paint is put on it lightens and brightens. With my first build I was CONVINCED when the slab was poured that it was all wrong and too small. It wasnt. Don't worry, you aren't alone. Just wait until the gyprock goes in, then it'll look right Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: worried about room size 4Aug 15, 2013 7:13 pm Every house we build, I get the same feeling. I even had this conversation with my husband about the house we are building currently, I knew it would look small and was preparing myself before going to look at the slab. Got there and got this panic feeling that I always get the slab is poured. It's normal Re: worried about room size 5Aug 16, 2013 5:37 am same here looked at slab and wondered how bed 2 would fit in the house, the room turned out ok and like everyone else once the frames etc goes up you will see a difference the sixe of your theatre room will fit your lounge Re: worried about room size 6Aug 17, 2013 11:56 am Yup as per above comments totally normal. Currently building 2nd time around and even though I know the rooms are bigger than standard on paper, still got the elevated heart rate when physically seeing our slab. Re: worried about room size 7Sep 27, 2013 5:24 pm I'm building a 200sqm house so I can also relate, we are only at slab stage and my partner said not to freak out before we got there but yep I was thinking that we should get a tape measure to make sure https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Dear Members I have to decide the Facade column size.
