We have a full length rear veranda and I am thinking about building in one end to make into an additional sun/play room. On face value it seems pretty easy – knock up a frame for 3 walls and a floor/ceiling and blueboard outside, gyprock inside. I have a sparky mate that can cable it for me cheap. I know there is a lot more to it than that, so was after any hints, tips or tricks from anyone that has done this themselves. I have no idea what this would cost – hoping I could do for under $2,000 (building myself with help) all inclusive? Is it a waterproof structure or a concrete deck or just gapped timber boards? What's the clear height underneath? Is there water seepage under there? Any pipes underneath that you know of? How are you going to get access? Stairs? Walk out the house and then into the new room? What kind of floor are you thinking of?
