Going to 2.7 would depend on how open plan it is. If its not that open a higher ceiling can make the rooms feel narrower, it also comes down to how that 5K relates to the whole price and whether the value of the home can justify it Re: ceiling hight 2.6 need an upgrade? 3Jul 26, 2013 5:57 pm 33amc The 2.6m or what is usually 2590mm is definatly worth it over the 2.4m ceiling especially if you have ceiing fans. Re: ceiling hight 2.6 need an upgrade? 4Jul 26, 2013 6:40 pm We had 2700mm ceilings in our last two houses (Alice Springs and Darwin) with ceiling fans. Our current house in Perth has 2550mm ceilings and I have fitted ceiling fans. I haven't noticed the difference between the 150mm ceiling height. May be due to the change in climate too (currently raining and 12 degrees here...) Re: ceiling hight 2.6 need an upgrade? 7Jul 27, 2013 7:50 am I don't think you should spend 5k upgrading a measly 100-110mm. You're over 2500mm which would be worth the upgrade (i.e. from 2400-2500mm) but I doubt you will feel much of a difference between 259 and 269cm. Spend the ekstra 5k on something else for the house - another upgrade such as insulation or slightly better windows, or perhaps heavier internal doors and sound insulation between rooms. I think those 5k could be better spend. Re: ceiling hight 2.6 need an upgrade? 8Jul 27, 2013 6:00 pm Sunny16 33amc if so is there an option to upgrade ONLY for living and kitchen area? No, you cant just upgrade part of a house, well you could, but the complex design of the roof trusses would make it more expensive than the full 2700 upgrade. If I could afford it, I would. As also mentioned, if you are going to do that, go for the bigger doors, or at least bigger robes Unless the room is for storage then it's non compliant BCA V2 2019 S3 P3.8 You have 2 options 1. And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 5907 There is water getting into the ceiling, I expected to find some holes in the corrugated roof but there weren't any so I suspect that the roof drip edge is letting water… 0 2447 |
