Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 21, 2013 6:08 pm Hi Moved in 2 years ago and suddenly one day the WIR Melamine robe shelf (one) collapsed and damaged the WIR plaster board. It seems like it has been constructed using glue and no screws. Is this how everyone's melamine shelf constructed. Has this happened to anyone before? Is this covered by the 7 year builders guarantee? Thanks Yellow Re: Melamine robe collapsed - Please Help 2Jul 22, 2013 10:09 am A photo would help, but I assume its the L shaped shelving/hanging space along one wall and across the other that come stock standard in most BIR's, with a 70mm edge stiffening strip. From experience they are fixed to the wall, and each other, by screws, but the amount of weight I've seen them subjected to with wall to wall hanging plus junk on top piled up to the ceiling, it would only be a matter of time before they sag or at worst collapse. I dont know if it would be covered by builder's warranty, why not phone and ask? Arfur Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7073 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits.
