Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 17, 2013 10:28 am Hello all, Trying to get some advice here... I have seen lots in the forums about people filling up their houses with batten fix lights and having them switched to LED post handover... sounds like a plan at $42 vs $210... but what I want to know is if it is possible to place just one of the batten lights in each room and then have the sparky wire for all 4 LED's from there... can that be done or should I just place all the battens now eliminating the amount of work for the sparky at the end (i.e just switching the fittings rather than also having to run cable etc.) Am I asking a how long is a piece of string type question? Probably! The other issue apart from access is that the baton light in the middle of the ceiling will remind, so you get 5 lights OR remove it and patch the hole. Re: Change 1 batten fix to 4 LED lights after handover 4Jul 17, 2013 10:50 pm They will charge you for the wiring of the new points and the install. If you have batten they will only charge you install. Depends on how many are included in your contract. We put two in some areas knowing we'd put downlights there eventually. We did our research with some sparkies and found it was the same price and in some cases cheaper to get our builders sparky to do it as an extra now so we arranged it through him and are now getting them through out main area. He is charging us wiring and install for anything new and just install for our existing ones. Great as we have it when we move in now for same price it would've been after. As said the one in the middle will remain so if you want 4 not 5, put one where you want the LED to be. Some people get junction boxes installed in their roof for future downlights. Again this costs more but eliminates work later. It's all about labour costs. Hey guys, what’s everyone opinion on James Hardie linea direct fix to frame? Would this be the most common method and anybody ever had any problems down the track? 0 5143 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair If the railhead is so poorly fixed it is also likely that the railhead is also non compliant, what about overflows and sealing railhead to the gutters?. 3 5969 |
