Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 14, 2013 10:06 pm I was wondering if there was any way of detecting whether your home has high levels of airborne asbestos present? I had heard that a lot of train stations in Sydney have airborne asbestos (due to the old brake pads) but was wondering at what concentration this becomes an issue? Re: Detecting ambiant level of asbestos 3Jan 08, 2014 12:34 pm Apparently asbestos is quite a heavy type of particle so unless you have a fair amount of unpainted fibro walls and ceilings that are constantly being brushed or scratched I doubt this would be a problem. This was told to me by a guy who is the OH & S officer for a large local company and knows his stuff as they say. Stewie What you are looking at is fibrous plaster, true gypsum, it is cast on horizontal beds with fibers included to give strength. I has no Asbestos in it.
