There are weather seals but they might not have been installed correctly because they are covered in what I think is a silicon/polyurethane sealant. Is that normal? The sealant looks pretty old and is starting to perish. The house is only 7 years old. Gutters cleaned regularly. Can anyone recommend a good sealant to use for a medium term repair, or should I just look at replacing the weather seals completly? Could this be a building defect? Any comment would be appreciated.
