Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 29, 2013 7:18 pm Hi all, just working on our house plan and trying to work out the layout of our backyard. Stuck with where the clothes line should go. I've ruled out putting it in the main backyard area as there will be a nice decking/alfresco area and the presence of washing on a hanging line would make it a bit hideous. I've had suggestions to put it against the side wall but as (currently) we have a window as splashback which directly overlooks that area, this might look a bit unsightly...but thinking I'm not left with much of a choice then. Any ideas/pictures/suggestion on how to make a clothesline look good/less obvious in a backyard? Re: Clothes line dilemma - anyone got any ideas? 2Jun 29, 2013 10:24 pm the brabantia wallfix. I had it at my old house and will be getting it again. I had the cover tho, not the box, but it still looked fine You can buy them at a few places and see them at howards storage world. I got mine from Bunnings (for less than $200), but they don't sell them in WA bunnngs anymore http://www.brabantia.com/int_en/wallfix ... att-steel/ ______________________________________________________________________ Signed up Jan 2013........Almost done! Anyone had one ? Re: Clothes line dilemma - anyone got any ideas? 6Jul 01, 2013 1:18 pm I've got a retractable one It was like $50 or $60 from bunnings. Sun King 4 Line Retractable or something. U need 6m or less of space so I've got it attached to my wall and it hooks on to an attachment piece on the fence. 6m distance gives u maximum line usage. I remember seeing Versaline or something which is similar but it's portable, u hook it up anywhere, GOODLIFE - Bravo - BUTLER http://getmistyfied.blogspot.com.au Display 20/02/2012 PPA 01/04/12 Prestart: 25/07/12 Settlement: 31/07/2012 Contracts:August Slab 19/11/12 BRICKS 10/11/12 Roof 16/01/13 Re: Clothes line dilemma - anyone got any ideas? 7Jul 01, 2013 1:21 pm I have http://www.qualityclotheslines.net/foldowns.html bookmarked for this, I'll probably be ordering one to bolt onto my wall in a few months. HD Re: Clothes line dilemma - anyone got any ideas? 8Jul 02, 2013 6:01 pm We bought one from Aldi (Melbourne)that concertinas out from the wall about a metre and is around 1.2 metres wide. Not huge but we installed this as a temporary clothes line inside the garage, because at the time we had no paving at the side of the house where the permanent clothes line was going. We still haven't put a proper one outside because it works! Clothes dry, even in winter. Re: Clothes line dilemma - anyone got any ideas? 9Jul 02, 2013 10:27 pm Try looking at a Versaline, I have seen it at the Homeshow and it was very easy to remove and all you are left with are a couple of unobtrusive brackets on the wall. You could put it in the backyard and if you are using the yard easily remove it. Re: Clothes line dilemma - anyone got any ideas? 10Jul 10, 2013 12:58 pm Hi there, If you have a north facing wall on the side of your house this would be the greatest spot to place your clothesline. A Wall Mount fold down attached to the wall is a great option which can fold away when not in use. The Retractable clotheslines are another style which can either be attached to a wall and extended out or go post-to-post and removed when not in use. Your window splash back in the kitchen sounds great however not if you are looking out directly at your washing! If you can build in a timber screen or even plant bamboo right up against the window, that way your clothesline can sit behind it. If you would like to send through your plans we can assist in helping you with the placement of your clothesline and if in Melbourne provide installation as well!
