Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 01, 2013 8:26 pm Hey everyone, I wanted to start a topic where people can share pictures or stories of things they have done to their homes to update them and make them look more modern, or more 'on trend', such as changing light fittings, door handles, doors, windows and painting etc. My house was built in 2004 and has aged quite well and still seems newish, but I`ve done a couple of things to it like changing the house numbers to modern ones, adding modern outdoor lights, re painting the exterior and pressure washing the driveway, paths and deck to make them look new again, has anyone else done things like this to keep their homes feeling new and modern? Re: Keeping houses updated 2Jun 06, 2013 2:36 pm A simple change of the kitchen cupboard door handles worked miracles... for $35 and about 45 mins work, it lifted the entire kitchen. Also, tile paint in the laundry. Tiles were in great condition, just a dated and horrid colour, bit of bright white tile paint and it transformed the room. Simple little things that dont cost the earth, but move the house with the times a bit! And I`ve seen tile paint used on better homes and gardens and selling houses Australia and it seems like a great idea and a lot less work than re tiling Re: Keeping houses updated 4Jun 06, 2013 5:04 pm No worries Its a good thread and could raise some good ideas for people not looking to completely renovate, but just modernise a bit as you said. The tile paint works so well for a small area of good condition tiles, that just might not be a pleasing colour, and that wouldnt be worth the expense of ripping them out and re-tiling. As long as the instructions are followed and the tiles are properly prepared first, it's a really inexpensive room lifter. Also, simply new paint in any room can modernise and freshen a tired home Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Appreciate that Chippy. I won’t do sand under pavers and will connect all up under pavers, however I was going to do: 1) Roadbase compacted with manual hand tamper 2)… 10 18530 |
