Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 01, 2013 6:28 pm Hi. Yesterday, I checked some blogs and articles about Alarm Systems and I realized how important they are. But then, I was worried because CCTV systems and security systems are, too. So I researched again until I have decided to root for an alarm system. While I was doing my research, I could not find any tips about purchasing an alarm system to avoid getting into trouble like being involved in scams. Can anybody please help me in buying an alarm system? What are the things that must be considered before I purchase one? And how much is to be spent just to purchase and maintain an alarm system?
Re: Choosing between CCTV System or Alarm System 2Jun 02, 2013 9:23 am Hi, We built a house that was handed over last year. We decided to install an alarm as well as a CCTV system & intercom. We sat down with the electrical contractors that were doing all the wiring & power points etc, & explained to them what we wanted. For us, the main thing about the alarm is to be able to be activated when we're in the house ( ie at night, or if any of the family members are alone in the house during the day) or when it is empty. If you're building a two storey house it makes sense to have 2 key pads, one on each level. Also, with the CCTV we opted to have "colour cameras " not black & white. There is plenty of info on the net, so do your research & then talk to a professional. I hope this helps. P.S, we spent $11K to get this whole package.
