Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 24, 2013 7:08 pm I have checked with my local council and they have advised that I wouldn't need a building permit to build a deck on top of concrete paving. I was wondering if any one has built one themselves and how they went about it. Also whether they kept a section that they could lift up should they need to in order to access the drain point underneath should they need to. Re: Decking built on concrete paving 2May 25, 2013 3:56 pm Are you talking about small concrete pavers that cover a large area or a single concrete slab that you want to deck over? Just over a year ago, I put a deck over the concrete on our back verandah. I had some levelling issues given that the slab was running at a different angle to the house (I'm not convinced that either were level). I also had a second slab that was raised 100mm above the rest. In order to get the variable height I used Ramset Loxins and packers to get each joist to the correct height. I bought lengths of threaded rod and just angle grinded them down once everything was tightened up. The steel rod went through the centre of the joists in a countersunk hole to hide the nuts. There's plenty of discussions about it on here and the ***. Just Google "deck over concrete slab" Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10971 As most others have posted above the install isn't compliant. The pipe is meant to be covered in loose soil or sand, the pipe has holes in it that leaks out a termicide… 10 5727 |
