Bec, No offense meant, but that's a really dumb question! Are you blonde by any chance? (A blonde moment at least)? Of course that's not acceptable! Smooth surfaces such as a porcelain toilet will be easy enough for them to clean up, but look closely at the grout or any porous surfaces. They will probably have difficulty cleaning this properly. Make sure that you stand up for your rights for full and proper remediation. Ash. Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 4Apr 25, 2008 7:59 pm What really annoys me is….why aren’t they using drop sheets!
Are painters suddenly so clever they think they don’t spill anything? I don’t know how many painters I have chipped for not using drop sheets! ash no Im not blonde, even when I wrote that of course Im thinking &*^&$ this is a stupid question of course its not ok, even I know that! but they did it, they actually know me well, we have given them a lot of work over the years, blah blah blah, making it even more annoying so why! why why they used one plastic "sheet" like from a roll of plastic you tear off a sheet they generally do use drop sheets... but I guess care factor minus one for whatever reason LIVID Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 8Apr 25, 2008 8:15 pm Well care factor minus 1….has got them no where!
Now, they have to spend time back there, getting it off. Make sure in their effort they don’t scratch your tiles!!!! LIVID!!!!! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 9Apr 25, 2008 8:17 pm why, why, why?
Because they have probably done it before, and the previous customers said nothing about it! They have learned to think they can cut corners and be sloppy with their work, and get away with it. NOW it is up to you to break this cycle, and help them realise that they are responsible for their mess, and there are consequences. Call them back, and explain (as nicely as you like) that they have a clean job on their hands! Ash. Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 10Apr 25, 2008 8:26 pm they are still on the job, this is work done a few days ago though
they are still painting away said nothing Ive only just seen it Im not sure what their thinking is just say nothing and get away with it, who cares (most likely) or of course we will clean it off later dont sweat it (no, noway its that one) given we have given them a lot of work and I mean A LOT shouldnt I expect an even better job than normal thats what really cheeses me off bigtime thanks for the chance to vent regardless *moves to furious* lol Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 12Apr 25, 2008 8:33 pm Bec….stroll in there casually on Monday and say…”By the way boys, the mess you left in the toilet….your going to fix that today before you leave, aren’t you?!

on something at your house while home under construction whilst same people there something basically generally offensive but I suppose could be like a blokey joke between people that know eachother at best (but forgetting that its also my house and I and others might see it or forgetting that its just not on to really do that in normal life certainly if its a professional place, when youre getting paid good money to do a job?) is that just how tradies work these days and ignore, hey happens on all sites! or is it just not called for? another blonde moment? *reaches for bottle* argh had enough! Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 15Apr 25, 2008 9:23 pm Bec, you need some balls
No, skirting around the issue only will show you are less than assertive at holding them to account, and they'll think you are a soft touch. Approach them directly, and explain that you expect it to be fixed. Its not hard. You don't have to be aggressive or nasty. Just tell'em! Or get DH to. Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 16Apr 25, 2008 9:30 pm thanks ash
I meant tradies had left a little message in the dust , that was a second issue that sort of upset me. but its prob just a stupid joke yes I should get the builder to speak to them about the overspray clearly its not ok Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 17Apr 25, 2008 9:40 pm Oh! totally missed what you meant! My blonde moment!
To clarify... is your house under construction (a worksite) or are you living there, and they are doing some work in an occupied home? If the latter, I'd say that is unacceptable, and disrespectful of you and your property. Yes a lot of tradies lack in basic manners these days. If its a worksite, their messages may just be guys being guys, and probably not worth worrying about, but that is up to you if you feel insulted by it. Have a few more drinks, and come back & tell us how you feel! Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 18Apr 25, 2008 9:43 pm thanks
Quote: My blonde moment! that makes two of us *feels better immediately* yes its under construction, they know my DH, yep just probably boys being boys men who needs them lol *maybe no more wine* Re: Painters overspray all over tiles... 20Apr 26, 2008 2:30 pm Print this out and leave on the door to the loo!!!!
