Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 29, 2013 12:41 pm I installed a steel security door. Easy enough. Unfortunately, because the security door and front door are only 15mm apart when closed, I cannot close both doors at the same time as the handles prevent this. I have a pic but cannot work out how to post to this topic. Re: Security door 3Apr 29, 2013 1:13 pm Thanks for replying JB1 I bought the security door second-hand, as by the measurements, it fitted perfectly. The security door sits inside a frame of 25mm x 38mm tube steel, which fits perfectly into the door frame. I think the only alternative is to increase the gap between them by moving either one or both doors. You can get away with a Lockwood night-latch style of lock on the main door but Ive never seen a security door lock-handle with almost no protrusion. Or perhaps even customise the inside handle by removing it and welding a bit of flat steel to the lock shaft? I suspect its between door faces and the only way to fix that is to replace the stop, but your frame might not be deep enough to take it if its only 15mm right now. You'll need to measure the jamb to figure out if its deep enough. I'd question whether or not its and external door frame also Hi When it rains in a particular direction water comes through the security door. It hits the main door and the bottom swells and jams.
