We are currently in the middle of a renovation and have decided, (to save costs) not to go ahead with some items that have been listed in the contract. I have asked the builder what sum he has allocated for these items so that we can deduct it from the contract. He has provided me with the sum however he hasn't included the 20% builders margin. So my question is, if the work is no longer being done, do we still need to pay the 20%? Or are we entitled to also have that back? We have a standard HIA renovations contract, but unfortunately I can't seem to find anything in it that can help clarify this for me. Is anyone able to advise or suggest who I can speak to that can answer this for me?
