I think the roof tiles are cement also but they are a dark grey colour. I tried sandpaper and also a scrubbing brush with little success. Any ideas? Re: Clean cement from roof tile 2Apr 11, 2013 3:23 pm I made a slight mess with cement when I lay my ridge tiles, however using a spray bottle full of a product called "back-set" (google should be able to help you find it), plus a rag and a flat head screwdriver I was able to clean it all off without leaving a trace. Re: Clean cement from roof tile 3Apr 12, 2013 11:17 am I was unable to get that product here so I asked around and fortunately found a solution. Bear in mind that these are rough, very porus concrete roof tiles, sorry I can't describe them better. I bought hydrocloric acid from the hardware store and mixed it 50/50 with water. I dipped the scubbing brush in the solution and scrubbed the roof tile. When the solution hit the tile it sizzled a little and gave off a tiny bit of smoke or vapor. i seemed to have more success when i just let the tile dry after scrubbing rather than hosing off the tile. Please make sure you dress for the occasion... cover your skin as much as possible, use safety glasses, rubber gloves. You'll feel much better about doing the job knowing your protected. Even so, take it easy, be careful and take every precaution you can.8 Hi, Currently building, we are on a sloping block so we have from floor level to the roof in axon cladding.
