Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 26, 2013 12:10 pm Hi all, just a quick question - I had handover of my new build last week, got keys etc - guys were there doing installation of oven rangehood etc - all good. I left to get a car load of stuff and when I got back - all contractors were finished and gone. The knob of the oven was broken off (not just broken, but the whole thing snapped off inside the oven front). spoke to the builder - they had been told that this happened - I was told to phone the supplier as it will be under warranty. The oven company say the only way it could be broken is rough handling and that piece isnt under warranty as it isnt a manufacturing fault - so i have to have a technician come out at my expense to fix it!!! I say the builder pays - what do others say?- any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!! Re: Broken Oven at handover 2Mar 26, 2013 12:18 pm Builder pays. Our appliances were installed after handover, which is common, to avoid them being stolen before handover, I would assume this is what has happened in the above scenario. Re: Broken Oven at handover 10Mar 26, 2013 4:38 pm Oh. OK. I can understand that. Sounds a pretty awful place ... What about minor knocks etc and finalising things.
