Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Solar Choice 2Mar 23, 2013 2:02 pm Hi baabaa, We (because we didn't know anything) decided, surely too goodness, our electricity supplier would know what was good and what wasn't !! so, our system was installed by our supplier Energy Aust. We can still only hope that the equipment they installed will do the job for many years, and, 6 months in so far so good. I feel comfortable that we have a large organisation to fall back on if it goes bellyup. There is no money to be made these days, they pay us 7.7cents per kw for anything we export. The sensible course is to try to use the power when the sun is out (washing/dryer etc) which means you are not paying for it. If no one is ever home in daylight hours would be thinking twice ? Re: Solar Choice 3Mar 29, 2013 4:44 pm agree with jj1 if no one is at home during the day think twice it is best to use the solar between the sunlight hours . also have a timer to run the pool pump etc is good. also look at how many panels you have . and people in house for our new house we are going with true value solar as we are getting a great deal of 5 kw and 20 panels. we have had solar for several years and find it great for us. we googled different companies before deciding. true value is in NSW and qld . That's disgusting. I wouldn't bother. +1 Vote Re: Solar Choice 7Mar 31, 2013 10:45 am agreed, certainly couldn't retire on it ! That's it though, now the FIT has finished. Being at home all day is helpful.. have just about halved our bill. Household of 2 adults, really more of a novelty value than any great $ benefit. Re: Solar Choice 9Apr 03, 2013 8:41 pm for our solar we are getting a timer for the pool pump so it can run doing the day. also washing etc will be done during the day but for those that work it can be hard as most times nobody is home Re: Solar Choice 10Apr 04, 2013 1:31 am AdamIrons how many people are home during the day, how much of your power is used during the day ? We are and most of our power is used during the day for that very reason. Being only 2 of us does not make for a big use anyway. Click on the "output" link in my signature, will give a bit of an idea... Re: Solar Choice 11Apr 04, 2013 12:40 pm baabaa5 Hi was wondering where to find the latest and most independent assessment of solar panel providers in Sydney. It is all very confusing to me. Is it still worth it these days? how many people are home during the day, how much of your power is used during the day ? Re: Solar Choice 12Apr 04, 2013 1:54 pm 1rocky for our solar we are getting a timer for the pool pump so it can run doing the day. also washing etc will be done during the day This will depend on how much FIT you are getting. I'm currently getting 53.8c/Kwh FIT so it pays me to let my system generate its maximum during the day and do all my major usage at night when I'm only being charged around 30c/Kwh Arfur I looked into it a few years ago and my conclusion was to just build a carport that will support panels and get a system installed separately. The company I looked at had… 1 5419 |
