Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 18, 2013 9:24 am Hi all, After going through a build myself I realized I made a silly silly mistake with our old bathroom renovation. At the moment the plaster behind the shower tiles are NOT waterproofed. Are there any remedies for this without removing all the tiles? Thanks. =) Re: Bathroom disaster 4Mar 18, 2013 10:59 am Well ... aim the "rose" away from the walls ... No ... I guess you could try to keep the walls dry - ie a regular wipe down and maybe a spray with that waterproof stuff - clear. Redoing it might be the best - and perhaps cheapest. But - you never know - without a crack or break - with the use of a bathroom fan and open window it might be quite OK for sometime. Problems might be at bottom - and if the water gets through it can cause damage. Not sure tiles would be the issue. And going over the grout might help. Re: Bathroom disaster 7Mar 18, 2013 1:18 pm Hi namweng, sorry to tell you but you have got a problem. That will be lucky to last 2 months. You might be lucky enough to remove the tiles intact. The plasterboard should delaminate and then you just clean the glue off the tiles with a grinder and dust mask. Alternately you could lay some FC sheet directly over the tile and affix with screw. Then waterproof the sheeting then tile again. All options are pretty costly & bad! Re: Bathroom disaster 9Mar 19, 2013 8:47 am Hi namweng, you could try it with silicone. At this point you have got nothing to lose. It will be difficult to get a good looking finish with silicone. You would also be amazed how water finds the smallest hole. Capillary action I think Render your bathroom walls, two opinions versus the one, makes you wonder. 3 6066 Hi Geoff Install Puddle Flange prior to any screed.
