Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 07, 2013 11:10 am I think we've been ripped off in this area of our build. When we first started we had to chose between a soakage trench/pit system or the enviro cycle septic system. We were told there was a $10,000 allowance in the quote for the more expensive systems (like the enviro cycle). We were told picking the soakage trench would save us quite a chunk of money in this area. When I got the stage payment I was shocked to see, that not only had the septic system cost all of the $10,000 but they were charging an extra $500 on top of the $10,000! It should not of cost this much surely? I've had one excavator tell me he could of done it for $3,000 (but he is known to exaggerate). Could use some help here. I need to know where I stand before paying them. Build thread : /viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60288 Re: Soakage Trenches - How much should they cost? 3Mar 08, 2013 8:52 pm Sounds like you've been had. We had an envirocycle at our last place and it cost exactly $10k including installation and pipework from the slab to the tank. The septic/soakage system is just a plastic, or concrete tank, with trenches filled with blue metal. It may take a bit more time to install or dig out but the end result should literally be half the price. Re: Soakage Trenches - How much should they cost? 4Mar 08, 2013 9:06 pm Just had a Filtrex septic system installed this week in WA and with a 3200L main tank and a 1200L secondary tank with a pump and 2X 20M leech or soakage trenches the total cost with the application fees was 14K. All excavation is in sand. Hope this helps. 7 11992 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 |
