I know you don't have to have a sidelight either side, I was only going to have one on one side but width did not allow for that, front hallway is all the same width, 1.4 wide, there is not a wider entry foyer. I have seen houses here too with no sidelight, sometimes by choice and sometimes because hallway is narrow and only wide enough for the door, say 1.2 wide. I think this would be OK light-wise as long as front door had a glass panel(s) rather than solid timber. (like Phoenix's house) Building Standards; Getting It Right!
