Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 01, 2013 9:33 am Hello H1, long time reader, but now in need of help! So in the process of subdividing a piece of land in Brisbane in hopes to of building our first home. I have just had sewer and water connections installed which have been certified by QUU (Queensland Urban Utilities). The plan has been lodged to be sealed however they require two more documents, a sewerage reconnection certificate from BCC plumbing services, and also a Seal off certificate from BCC plumbing services. My hydraulic engineer has no idea of this, nor does the firm which we contracted to do the works. I have asked the plan sealing assessment manager, who states that I need these items, however he doesn't know where to get them from, and that the contracted plumber should know. I've also looked on the BCC (Brisbane City Council) website where they have a section about sealing off on plumbing connections, however the links to the associated forms are no longer active. (Apparently this has now moved to the Department of Housing and Public Works) On the Department of Housing and Public Works website however there are no apparent forms which indicate the inspection and sealing certification of plumbing. I have called Brisbane city council a couple of times, who then refer me to the DHPW. I have called DHPW and they don't seem too sure of what I need to do either. I'm not sure if I'm missing something exceptionally obvious here, or have just had bad luck with the people I'm dealing with. If anyone has any idea of what I need to do, any advice would be most gratefully appreciated. Thanks Re: Sewerage and Water Certification in Brisbane 2Mar 01, 2013 10:31 am You need to have a seal off certificate for the connection that was connected to the old house (i.e. not the new one as part of the split). This generally only comes up though when the plumbing/drainage for the new place is lodged with council (although it's a heap easier to just do it when you have the machinery there). Pretty much your plumber will have to "cap" the service to the house on the property boundary (generally just an end of PVC pipe over the old earthenware line). They will submit the required forms to council and then they will need to inspect it - so you have to leave the line exposed. You'll get a seal off certificate posted out in the mail from council which will have a reference number on it which will then be needed to lodge drainage for any new build. I don't have a copy of the ones I have done at work with me but if you PM me your email I could send you one for reference if you want. Cheers, travis For your reference Performance Labels: Window assemblies in housing, except timber windows, must be labelled so the label can be seen when it is in situ.
