Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 24, 2013 5:57 pm Hi all, We are planning to build a retaining wall around the back of the property. We got quoted $4.5k for 42m of retaining wall , 75mm sleepers, and filled with rocks. Is this reasonable or over priced? Any help is much appreciated. Cheers Re: retaining wall help ? 3Feb 25, 2013 10:43 am I myself don't like treated pine. But that price sounds about right. I am using concrete sleepers as I know they will last a life time and don't want to have to replace them in 15 years. Cost a lot more but worth it in the long run. I bought my sleepers from http://www.retainingaustralia.com.au at a good price and include delivery. Re: retaining wall help ? 5Feb 25, 2013 10:55 am concrete requires no painting, you can choose the colour you want and basically u concrete in the brackets and slide the sleepers in, but be aware the sleepers weigh 50kg each so its a 2 man job. Give the guy a call he is very helpful Re: retaining wall help ? 6Feb 25, 2013 11:02 am with ref to painting the treated pine it would be moisture that is their enemy. Re: retaining wall help ? 9Mar 01, 2013 2:19 pm I had a quote for 22m of retaining wall 3 sleepers high for$6,000! We ended up building it ourselves with the help of a friend for about $3,500 Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 1328 Thanks for your reply! All valid points and I agree with you on many of them. I am in QLD, any recommendations on a construction lawyer would be helpful 3 2052 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 11059 |
