Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 12, 2013 1:28 pm Hi there all, We are building our first home and it is all new to us! We have most quotes in for electrical, heating, builder etc, we are needing a rough idea of what the plumbing will cost??? We are building a 5 bedroom + study with 2 bathrooms single storey. We are in a rural setting so will have an enviro cycle, 1 large water tank and a 3 car shed. It can be a really rough estimate as we don't have any idea? Anyone who building, we would appreciate any feedback on costs? Thanks Re: New house - Plumbing costs - rural area 2Aug 02, 2013 6:15 pm Hi the cost of plumbing depends on the complicity of the job and the following matters: • Number and length of downpipes needed • Number of spreaders required • Type of Hot water : gas hot water or solar hot water • Number of Bath and type of bath • Number of shower • Number and type of toilet • Dishwater required or not • Site difficulties • In-slab sewer or hung sewer • Sewer and drainage position The cost for septic tank and water tank could cost $10000 to $20000. I suggest that you ask for a few quotes from plumbing contractors. However, most important thing is to have a licenced and experienced plumber, it is very important to get your plumbing works done properly, otherwise it could be very costly to rectify and of course lots of hassles. Hope this helps. Re: New house - Plumbing costs - rural area 4Aug 04, 2013 3:27 pm My waste treatment, water tank, rubble pit, and water lines and downpipes cost me about $11,000 all up on a one acre block. It wont be possible for you to do it for less than that I think, but thats a starting point. I did what I could as an OB. My council didnt not require compliance checking on stormwater downpipes, so I connected them myself to the water tank. Your council may or may not allow this. I also put in all the water lines to the fixtures, and allowed the plumber to just connect that to the water pump. I also connected 50 metres of poly pipe to the water meter when it got installed. The more you do yourself, you'll be surprised how much cheaper it becomes. Plumbers are expensive - all the quotes I got , they all tried to charge me at least $1000 per day in labour. Its worth minimizing their input if you can. Hi Renee, Boundaries in NSW are generally shown on Deposited Plans.
