Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 07, 2013 4:03 pm I've just come from the Henley Homes Display Centre in Mernda, Melbourne. I was very impressed by their interior colour schemes and on closer inspection I noticed that whilst some of the walls looked to be the same colour, they were in fact slightly different shades of the same colour. I presume the shade depends on the direction the wall was facing, the direction of light coming in, and the amount of light available etc. Has anyone else noticed this? It is my impression that this creates a kind of illusion that makes the space appear larger and brighter than it is. I wonder, if I wanted to recreate this effect in my house, are there any known rules that apply? Re: Henley - Different Paint Shade for Different Facing Wall 2Feb 08, 2013 6:14 am I've been to a few displays and never noticed it - but then that may be because it was so good ... But, if you've picked your colour scheme it shouldn't be an issue. Re size illusions etc - shadow and light can cause an affect - just see how a camera can "lie". I've seen a picture where you'd swear a colour above a line is diferent to the one below - but they are identical ! Check this out - http://brainden.com/color-illusions.htm - especially 5 down (identical colours ... ) and ... http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/nstv/ ... -mind.html http://www.archimedes-lab.org/color_opt ... sions.html So - yes the eye can lie. But - you still need certain space to fit the lounge in ... Re: Henley - Different Paint Shade for Different Facing Wall 3Feb 08, 2013 6:17 am Its all about how the eye "sees" something. Shadow plays a VERY important part in how we "see" things. Re: Henley - Different Paint Shade for Different Facing Wall 4Feb 08, 2013 8:50 am I knew someone who had this in their house. They hired an interior decorator who advised them of colours. They ended up having about 8 different 'shades' of the same colour but you wouldn't have picked it up unless told. It looked amazing and made the house feel bigger and lighter Re: Henley - Different Paint Shade for Different Facing Wall 5Feb 10, 2013 9:07 am asj25 I knew someone who had this in their house. Using colour to "lead" to something can also be good - ie an outdoor area. Here are some pics. (It's definitely not an illusion. It looks like shadowing, but I assure you it is not). Any ideas? Re: Henley - Different Paint Shade for Different Facing Wall 8Feb 11, 2013 9:10 am If I had to do the repaint not sure I'd like doing this ... The warning is on the sticker on the door too. Second the aluminium powdercoat 6 18199 It might be a bit darker in the mornings but the light is still light, so you should be getting it. Similar to what you see from your western windows 3 19988 yep you need a joint, foam is easiest, will look fine once rendered with a joint. 2 5236 |
