Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 07, 2013 11:17 am I just bought a house with a fibreglass pool. Previous owners had the pool empty to around 10 years and the floor of the pool has buckled and raise up. I plan to remove the pool and build a shed on the site. So questions are; -Should I remove the complete shell as a whole or cut it up in pieces? -Could I just remove the bottom of the shell (removing the raised area) and fill it in? -What should i fill the whole in with? Layers of different materials? -How long will it need to settle before I will be able to lay a slab on the site? Cheers in advance New to site, hoping to find some great info on here. Re: Removing fibreglass pool 4Feb 08, 2013 8:25 am Cheapest option would be to cut it up and combine it with the existing fill. Ensure the bottom is not left as one piece as this would allow water to pool in one spot and impair future drainage. Fibreglass is not difficult to section out with an angle grinder/power saw etc (you could even DIY) but wear appropriate breathing apparatus. Ideal fill material depends on the current site soil type, slope etc.. Should be easy to obtain free clean fill with all the building that's happening around your area. Re: Removing fibreglass pool 5Feb 08, 2013 9:59 am Thanks for the reply. Im definitely considering completely removing the pool in pieces as I have the tools and PPE to do it. Would prefer to dispose of the pieces off site but that will depend on cost as landfill is expensive. Also have an option of using coal wash (reject coal) as a fill asit has been used around the Illawarra for that purpose before. But will do some more research on that before a decison is made. Will put some pics up soon to show that poor condition of the pool!! Its quite funny. 6 11127 The best advice is for you to get a competent building consultant to guide you through your build 7 4648 Hi everyone, Looking for some advise.
