Any ideas on how to clean it properly, clean the grout , how to regrout --is that usually necessary? And how to get the slate partly shiny? Thanks Scrub the grout other than that i think its too much work.. but thats me Sealer is what makes the slate looks shinny.. Also, regrouting is only necessary if the grout is already corroded and crumbling. If it isn’t, simple brushing would do. Re: Slate floor help 5Feb 09, 2013 9:05 am When we mop our slate floor we add a bit of car wash n wax to the water which keeps them shiny and every few months go over them with a vinyl & tile wash as the slate seem to lose its shine under mats etc but brings it up nice and shiny and is really easy.
