Does anyone ever make the DIY furniture on BH & G?

I watch BH & G most Friday nights and every week the guy with the curly hair comes on and whips up something fab in just a couple of hours using nothing more than a bit of 2 bee 4 and a shed full of industrial power tools.

And I always wonder - is anyone in Australia actually going to build that 8 seat dining suite/life size toy boat/3 car garage?

neither do we paint pretty patterns on cushions, make home made easter eggs, redecorate our house for only $3, whip up a meal in 2 secs with yummy looking spanish guy cracking jokes next to us etc etc etc

but still we watch and buy the mags!

No, but going to have a go a the pathway they did last week (pavers down the side, crushed granite in the middle.)

I used one of their paving techniques...well an adaption at least. Red gum frames with inset second hand bricks....I'll post a photo on the weekend.

As for the other stuff....once I've added up material costs, my time, the "shed full of industrial tools", and the inevitable "that's not how it looks in the magazine" factor...I just couldn't be bothered.

I guess its like many other TV fantasies; I mean, you don't race into the hospital to an emergency in the middle of the night perfectly groomed, coiffured and made-up like in Days of our Lives and such either! :lol:

Not that I actually watch such drivel, of course :wink:

I actually made a crafty thing from one of the BH & G mags a few years ago - shells encased in small frames that I painted then sanded over to give them a "distressed" look. They were good enough that the people who bought our house last year asked if we would leave them in the house! LOL

Never done anything like that prior, nor since....
