Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 23, 2012 7:56 pm Hi Im painting the exterior of my home at the moment. Unfortunately Im experiening a few problems. Firstly the weather. So if i put a coat of paint on and the it rains the next day is this still ok to put the second coat on a few days later after the rain has endeded. Secondly bunnings were unable to match the colour of the paint very even though the first lot of paint was puchased from there in the first place.....and it did take them 8 mistints and 3 hours. You can see the mismatched shade from the street What can I do about that? I'm leaving for annual leave in two days do I get another batch of paint or take the paint back to bunnings. thirdlly what can you do when my new bathroom has dirty satained grout due to the builder breaking a window and not replacing it for 4 months. (I have whilte tiles) Also has any one had experiences with fair trading when having disputes with their builder? Re: Painting tinting tile grout fair trading 2Dec 25, 2012 9:53 am I assume you are using acrylic paint? If so yes. Serve you right going to Bunnings and not a paint trade centre. EIGHT mistints should have sounded alarm bells ringing with you running out the door. So you left your bathroom open to the elements for 4 months with a broken window? Why didn't you board it up as a temporary measure? There are several grout cleaners on the market I have found Fair Trading (in SA) to be a waste of time in any claim. Good luck Arfur Re: Painting tinting tile grout fair trading 3Dec 29, 2012 9:21 am m69 ....what can you do when my new bathroom has dirty satained grout due to the builder breaking a window and not replacing it for 4 months. (I have whilte tiles)? I assume you've already asked the builder to rectify the problem? If not, that's your first step. Did you document the broken window at the time it happened? A written request to your builder, asking that the grout be replaced would be your first step in any dispute. It would be helpful if you have photographic evidence from when the tiles were first laid, the broken window, and the subsequent discolouration. Dates of events are important too, in any claim for rectification works. As for your mis-tints, I have to agree with uncle arfur...always use a proper paint retailer, not the big green shed. Not much help after the fact though, sorry. Thanks splashers, that makes sense.
