My hot water service seems to have breathed its last. It's an old Rheem gas storage system in a cupboard in the laundry. Cupboard is 580w X 650d. The options I've been given are an outdoor continuous system - although there may be issues with where to put it: the best option wall is mostly window and very little wall. It's also very exposed to strong nor'easterly winds and I don't know if that's a problem for any of these systems. The only other option is a replacement storage system. Solar is beyond the budget and would need strata approval. Does anyone have any recommendations for small gas storage systems either indoor or outdoor? I live in coastal NSW. Outside temp sometimes gets down to zero in winter overnight and the water is a bit limey but otherwise good, I think... Re: New gas hot water service :@ 2Dec 25, 2012 10:26 am Continuous flow or Instantaneous are in my opinion far better and cheaper to run (I have one) but do require to be (from memory) 1.5m from opening doors and windows, so with limited wall-space you may have to go with another storage unit.
