Can anyone help me with advise on a exterior paint colour for my weatherboard cottage and what to do with my french doors??? I am a single mum and have spent the past 5 years in my spare time renovating and extending my old weatherboard house and have now finished all but the exterior painting. I have landscaped the front yard in a modern style, pictures attached. The front of the house has a deck that is finished in Spa N Deck Sedona/Walnut which has ended up being very similar to the jarrah stain on the front doors, I had hoped the deck would be a brown shade but I have already sanded it back once so will have to live with this. I need to do one more coat on the deck near the house so it will go deeper in colour like near the outdoor lounge (see pic). Also new modern porch lights yet to be fitted. I have put a sample pot of Coloubond Color "Dune" on the house which the paint store said is a "safe colour that goes with everything" it seems nice but very light, I believe it may look lovely with white painted doors but not sure if it would work with stained doors. What should I do, does anyone have any suggestions as to a colour scheme that would make the house look more modern. The house is by the beach hense years ago I painted it that aqua colour dulux "peabody". I saw on the berger paint website that renovated beach houses look good in deep charcoal..with crisp white doors, trim etc. Anyway I am willing to go all out and paint the doors or paint the house a darker charcoal grey but am at a stand still and really need advise. Any advise will be much appreciated. Cheers Linda PS I hope I loaded the photos properly...never done it before. Re: NEED ADVISE EXTERIOR HOUSE COLOUR & TO STAIN OR PAINT DO 2Nov 30, 2012 12:09 am Dulux Malay grey is a dark grey with brown undertones. It looks lovely, and I think would look fantastic with white trims/doors. The darker colour in the same tones as malay grey is Raku.
