Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 25, 2012 3:51 pm We need some work done to our house - leaky shower, some rotted external weatherboards and cracked roof tiles. Rather than get a plumber, tiler and carpenter out can we instead ask for quotes from builders? Would rather get a quote from three builders rather than from three of each of the trades. Re: WILL A BUILDER DO ALL THIS IN ONE GO? 2Nov 25, 2012 4:57 pm I might be wrong, but I would imagine it might up more expensive doing it that way (if possible at all) because the builder would quote overall price, but then call in his trades - ie plumber, tiler, carpenter etc., .... and charge you what he pays them - plus his fee?? Your kind of like adding a middle man?????? Like I said though, I might be wrong - there's plenty of other way more experienced folk on this site so let's see what others can add. Good luck with it all... HHCIB Re: WILL A BUILDER DO ALL THIS IN ONE GO? 3Nov 25, 2012 5:05 pm Thanks for you input We're just kinda time poor...as everyone is these days i guess. Depending on how much extra it would cost it may be worth it just to have one point of contact. Hopefully someone here can give some advice to what that extra cost might be? They're all only small jobs but necessary so just want to get them out of the way. A question. Im in Queensland and building a new home. We managed to reach practical completion 6 weeks ago but we haven't heard any date for handover yet. Who should we… 0 3054 This is one of the reasons I decided to go overseas for my double glazed windows. As the builder indicated, he's worked on many upmarket builds, these were the most well… 13 15120 |
