Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 22, 2012 8:39 pm I have a cat, who I love very much, but his hair can literally bring me to tears. I swear he sheds three times the amount of a normal animal. Anyway, I'm considering one of the Robomaids for the new house - does anyone know how they go with pet hair in carpet? They have a video on the website but it was kind of clumps of hair, not the thin strands that weave into my carpet! Might be good for the tiles anyway, but thought I would see what people think? Also - any recommendations on which company to go with? Have only just realised there is more than just Robomaid who do them! Thanks! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Robomaid - how do they go with pet hair? 2Nov 23, 2012 6:34 am I'm keen to know too as we have a Golden Retriever. I want the Samsung one. We bought the Dyson pet hair attachment so we can vacuum the dog, he loves it and it works well. That is such a good idea! I tried to vacuum him once with him on my lap, he went spastic and I ended up with scratches all over my stomache. Won't do that again anytime soon haha. So I've decided I will get a Robomaid (of some sort)...have you heard better reviews about the Samsung version than the Robomaid? I didn't realise so many different companies did them! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Robomaid - how do they go with pet hair and which brand? 4Nov 23, 2012 9:44 am I have vacuumed the cat too, he wasn't too impressed, but I'm a vet nurse, so managed to wrangle him and get it done. I read better reviews about the Samsung, they are a bit more expensive, but I watched the comparisons on youtube and they were more thorough. (Make sure you watch the cat riding them on youtube!!) I want a Samsung one, but right now can't justify it right now, given I already have a Dyson, and haven't moved into the house with the tiled floor yet. Maybe I should get a vet to try! He had to get sedated once at the vet just to get his tail checked, he's that nuts. But I love him! I'm getting so confused now. I didn't realise nearly avery company does a version of this. I'm looking at the iRobots also... need more opinions! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Robomaid - how do they go with pet hair and which brand? 6Nov 24, 2012 2:14 am I have an iRobot roomba, as well as two cats that have hair exploding off them at every moment of the day. I found it works pretty well in getting the hair off hard floors and does a pretty good job of the thick carpet too....but I do have a large house with big spacious areas and its just too big for roomba to do at any one time. I do consider him very useful though, and it can definitely save me time from having to do an extensive vacuum every day! Re: Robomaid - how do they go with pet hair and which brand? 7Nov 24, 2012 10:01 pm I have one - what we generally do is set it up a different one room - before we leave every morning and then dyson on the weekend, we have two cats and a dalmation (all inside) it manages to keep the hair under control - until the weekend. <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Robomaid - how do they go with pet hair and which brand? 8Nov 24, 2012 10:50 pm Hmmm ok thanks very much for your replies. AKB - what brand is yours? So basically you still have to vacuum but it's just not as intense? We have 2 Jack Russells who also shed so much hair! Re: Robomaid - how do they go with pet hair and which brand? 10Nov 25, 2012 10:35 pm I bought mine about 6 months ago on a spreet deal $249 (i actually bought 2 of them one for the office and one for home) The Office one gets used once a week and we dont use a normal vacumn cleaner at all any more (1 office has timber floors and 1 office has carpet tiles). We have old shag carpet at home (until the extension and renovations are completed) I think on timber, tiles non 80's shag carpet you could get away with not vacuming as often ie maybe once a month. I'm always amazed about the amount of hair the robo picks up <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Thank you. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13718 |
